Pune Neurosciences Trust and Research Society
Dr. Charudutt Apte, a renowned neurosurgeon, and his associates have helped hundreds of poor patients at 'Pune Institute of Neurology’ under the banner of ‘Pune Neurosciences Trust and Research Society’, by providing high quality medical care at extremely low cost and on occasions absolutely free. To expand the scale and scope of this mission and to get involvement and participation of Society, Samavedana was formed on April 1, 2003.

Samavedana is the first of its own kind of Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Maharashtra, giving financial assistance to poor and needy patients.

"Feel together, heal together" is the motto of Samavedana. Our aim is to ensure that not a single poor patient is left untreated merely on account of lack of financial resources.

Samavedana functions on the fund provided by Society at large. So, the patient treated through Samavedana should be an asset to the society and not a burden on it. With this foregoing guiding principle, following criteria are applied to determine eligibility for assistance.
Children / Youth / Family bread earners
Patients who need complicated surgical intervention
Patients who are likely to be totally cured and lead a
normal life after treatment
Categories of assistance:
Initially Samavedana used to fully support the patient. The patient would pay whatever he can, and Samavedana would pay for whatever else needed. Over a period, patients were assisted in more ways. Currently assistance is provided in following manner.
Take up total financial burden of the patient.
Provide limited financial assistance.
Appeal to generous people to support specific patients
and raise funds directly.
