SHRIVARDHAN IN PUNE

Beautiful beaches, plenty of temples and a great historical background partially describes Shri Vardhan.
Shri Laxminarayan Temple is the main temple in Shri Vardhan. The idol in the temple is very old and issaid to be of the Hoyasal style. Other temples are Jivaneshwar, Bhairav, Kusumdevi and Somjai.
When we go down in history Shri Vardhan tells the story of Peshwas origin. Maharashtra was ruled by Peshwas for nearly 105 years. The Peshwai started in Shri Vardhan in 1713. The First Peshwa Balaji Vishwanath continued Peshwai till 1818. Third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao had built a house here in 1750 which is at present under the control of Municipal Corporation. The statue of Balaji Vishwanath Peshwa has bee recently established here.
Besides this Shri Vardhan is a very good Picnic spot. Swimming can be enjoyed on the beaches. Beaches are calm and quite hence safe to swim.
