Junior College Home Science
S.N.D.T. College of Home Science is the only college in the city offering Home Science at Junior College level.
This course offered in Junior college is considered as an innovative and unique option which will give a new direction to the students who are at the turning point of their life after the X standard.
After passing XII standard in Home Science, students may specialise in different disciplines of Home Science. They also have the option to specialise in fashion designing, interior designing, food technology or catering from any other institute.

 Eligibility for Admission
Students who have passed the S.S.C. or equivalent examination of any Statutory Board.
 Admission Procedure
1 Admission forms are available in the Home Science College immediately after the S.C.C. results.
2 Please note that since this is the only Home Science College in Pune, admissions are not through centralised system.

 Youth Forum Activities:
Students' Youth Forum organises various activities such as dance competitions, singing competitions, storey Telling, Mehendi, Tug of War, Treasure Hunt, Poem Recitation, Debates, etc
Youth Forum also encourages students to take part in Inter-Collegiate competitions, and other activities such as visiting social organisations, like Manavya - working for AIDS infected children. This helps the students to utilise their skills and talents for personality enrichment and social service..

 JUNIOR COLLEGE SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Participation of students in inter-collegiate tournaments in basketball, volleyball, yoga, badminton, table-tennis, and athletics.
At College level, students participate in trekking expeditions, yoga, cricket, aerobics, skating, taekwando and wushu.
Regularly conduct workshops and demonstration for maintaining health and physical fitness, e.g. yoga.
Due to extensive exposure to sports activities and competitions, many students play at distirct and national levels and win prizes.
 PARENT - TEACHER ASSOCIATION
An active Parent-Teacher Association is striving to acheive the following objectives:
To see that syllabus is covered as per the yearly plan.
To suggest the methods to improve the performance of poor students.
To help in planning and organisation of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
To help in academic progress and all-round development of students through joint efforts.
To help in solving educational, personal and emotional problems of the student.
 COUNSELLING
Each batch of 20 students from FYJC and SYJC, is assigned a teacher who is their counsellor.The counsellor looks after their educational progress and social well-being.
The objectives of counselling are:
1)To develop mutual understanding and trust between the counsellor and student.
2)To help students to understand their strengths and weaknesses and use their talents in various college activities.
3)To help students in solving their academic problems and improve their performance.
4)To help students resolve their personal and emotional problems.

A matter of key importance, when one is attempting to define Home Science or Human Ecology, is the necessity of emphasizing the importance of ``Improving the Quality of life'' within the house hold, and immediate environment of the Household. In view of the above mission, the SNDT College of Home Science has identified the following goals.
To provide formal higher education in Home Science
To offer courses which prepare students for employment in Home Science related professions.
To raise the level of living and improve the quality of human life through

 Eligibility for admission
I a)
H.S.C. or Std. XII examination conducted by any statutory Higher Secondary
School Certificate Examination Board with at least one paper of English language. Any other examination that may be duly recognised by the University/ Executive Council as equivalent to the above examination.
b)
The college has specified number of seats reserved for SC/ST/DT. NT./OBC as per government policy.

Admission to B.Sc. Home Science - II year.
A student who has passed B.Sc. Home Science Part I from any other recognised University would be eligible for admission to B.Sc. Home Science Part II of this University.
III
All admissions are provisional till the eligibility is approved by the University.
The following original certificates together with the xerox copies should be
submitted with the eligibility form :
(i) H.S.C. or its equivalent examination certificate.
(ii) H.S.C. or its equivalent examination mark sheet (2 xerox copies).
(iii) Migration Certificate (For students coming from other Statutory Boards).
Only a transference certificate will be required from a student who is seeking admission to this college after leaving any other college conducted by or affiliated to the S.N.D.T. Women's University.

A student will be eligible for admission to a particular field of specialisation only if she has cleared, as per the rules, all subjects prescribed as prerequisite subjects, subject to fulfilment of other conditions, which the respective department may have stipulated.
V
Successful completion of 120 credits with a minimum of C grade in each subject is essential to be eligible for B.Sc. Home Science degree.
VI
Permission to do B.Sc. in another area of specialisation in Home Science:
A student, who had obtained a Bachelor's degree in one of the specialisations of the degree course, would be permitted to secure admission to another specialisation. In such cases, a degree would be awarded in the second area of specialisation provided the students complete all requirements, i.e. 52 credits for the degree in the second area of specialisation. However, exemption will be given to the courses already completed in the first area of specialisation.
 Structure of the B.Sc. Home Science Curriculum
Foundation Courses (9 credits) : The subjects offered under this component equip students with the basic study skills and skills of communication.
Related Areas (19 credits): Include the courses in physical, biological and environmental sciences, humanities and arts which form the basis for the various specialisations in Home Science.
Home Science for all (40 credits): Compulsory subjects incorporating various areas of Home Science.
Specialisation (52 credits): Specially designed for training students for various professions related to the field of Home Science and are offered in III, IV, V and VI semesters.

 Duration The duration of the B.Sc. Home Science degree course is of 3 years (6 semesters) after Higher Secondary Certificate examination. Each semester consists of 16 to 18 academic weeks.
Students Aid Fund facility is available for deserving students.
^^ Laboratory deposit and caution money are refundable to students leaving the college, provided they are claimed within six months from the date of leaving the college and no dues are payable by her to the college. She is required to submit the laboratory deposit and caution money fee receipt and return her identity card at the time of claiming the above amount without which no refund will be given. Additional laboratory fees will be collected for some practical oriented subjects.
- Library fees are payable at the library separately.
- Rs. 100/- will be deducted for Home Science Associaition of India Pune chapter along with Rs.%0as processing charges.
- Rs. 50/- will be deducted for Alumini Associaition of SNDT HSc. College.
 Payment of Fees
The college fees should be paid within the prescribed time limit at the Bank of India, Extension counter located in the campus. A fine of Rs. 10/- per day will be charged thereafter. The timings of the bank for payment of fees will be Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
 Refund of Fees 
(1) Payment of fees is considered as confirmation of admission.
(2) 75% of the tuition fees will be refunded if a student leaves the college within a fortnight of the commencement of the semester or payment of fees, whichever is earlier.
(3) 50% of the tuition fees will be refunded in the case of the student, who leaves the college after 15 days of her admission to college, but within 30 days from the date of the commencement of the semester, whichever is earlier.
(4) Fees other than tuition fees will not be refunded.
(5) Full fees will be refunded to students who are admitted provisionally but found to be lacking in meeting the minimum requirement of eligibility. Rs.10/- will be deducted as incidental charges.
 Attendance Requirement
A candidate shall be required to attend at least 75% of the number of practicals and theory classes separately for each subject of study in each semester and only then, subject to other conditions being fulfilled, be eligible to appear at either the College or the University examination.
 Financial Aid Scholarship and Freeship : Will be given to deserving and needy students, subject to the fultilment of conditions attached to various scholarships and freeships. Students must submit details regarding their financial status to the office, if desirous of receiving some financial aid. They should contact the staff members in-charge immediately after admission to the college to enable the office to guide them. All formalities for scholarships are to be completed within the first month of the academic year.
