TILAK MAHARASTRA VIDYAPEETH ( DEEMED UNIVERSITY)

Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth

The Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth was established to pay respect to one of India’s greatest freedom fighters and social reformers in the year 1921. As per historical evidences, the national institute was set up on the recommendation of Mahatma Gandhi during the Indian National Congress’s Nagpur session in 1920. Today, the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth has transformed from registered society under the Societies Act of 1960 to a Deemed University. The esteemed institute has also been included in the University Grants Commission Act (UGC).

The Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth realises its responsibilities towards the society and makes every effort to spread 
education amongst the youth in the disciplines of Humanities, Science and Commerce. With funds from the University Grants Commission, the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth has earned a prominent stature for itself in the Association of the Indian Universities.

Distance Education: 
The Mukta Vidya Kendra or the Open Education Center of the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth makes provision for Distance Education.

 Admission procedure
Indian as well as students from abroad who are 21 years or older are eligible for taking admission to the undergraduate courses of the institute. Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination should be cleared by those, who are willing to apply. Those who do not have the necessary qualifications will have to appear for the entrance examinations conducted between the months of April and September.

Command over 
the English Language, Mental Awareness, Teacher Attitude, Teacher Aptitude and General Knowledge are tested in the entrance examinations. The maximum marks a student can score are 100 within the duration of 90 minutes. Rs. 500 has to be paid for appearing in the entrance examination.
