Bhawani Peth
Bhavani Peth is located in the heart of the city followed by all other peths. The place can be accessed through Sanas Road as well as Bhawani Peth Road. Peth is a general name for old locality in Pune. Business in these places used to take place once in a week. There are 18 Peths in all, created by Peshwas in 1713 and 1818. Bhawani Peth has been named after Hindu Goddess Bhavai whose temple was set up here in 1763. AccessibilityThere used to be many bore trees in this reign and hence also called 'Borevan'. Today it has a large timber, hardware and steel market. Some of the famous places over here are Shri Bhavani Mata Mandir and Timbar market. Palki Vithoba Mandir is also a tourist attraction.
