KARNALA

125 kms away from Pune is a lovely place called Karnala. It is very close to Panvel. It is a fort at the bottom of which is a bird sanctuary. The Bird Sanctuary is spread over an area of 5 kms. and incorporates more than 125 species of birds in it.
Maharashtra Government declared it as a Bird Sanctuary in 1989. Bird lovers spend a great time with birds over here. Navigating through the sanctuary gives one a look of many species of birds which many of us have not seen before.
Climbing Karnala can be a great experience for trekkers. Trekking can be dangerous in the rainy season so it can be done in rest of the year. While climbing the fort you come across many species of birds in nature. River Patalganga is towards the east of the fort. Greenery covers and surrounds the fort of Karnala.
A true trekking experience and a few moments with beautiful birds, completes the trip to Karnala.
